The viewpoint of Santa Justa lift is located on the terrace of the lift with the same name and offers the best view over the city of the seven hills.
Santa Justa Elevator:
Important piece of street furniture, integrated in the so-called ' Lisbon architecture of Iron ', translating an ornamental Gothic language, is the only vertical lift existing in the town, deployed in the staircase of Santa Justa, making the connection between r. gold and Largo do
Carmo.
Built by the company, lift is the masterpiece of Mesnier du Ponsard, having been opened in 1902. Initially operated by Ponsard, came to the final possession of the company, in 1939.
Fully vertical structure of iron grows on 7 floors that match the 2 interconnected towers, with 45 m high, inside of which are 2 square cabins, communicating, at the top level, with the Largo do Carmo via a metal bridge, viaduct, supported type in half on a reinforced concrete pillar. Initially powered by a steam engine located on the top floor of the Tower, only in 1907 was operated by means of electric motors.
The Elevator of Santa Justa and
its surroundings are classified as National Monument.
