Since the first half of the 16th century, the space was used as recreational, leisure and farm production.Was purchased to the Mercy of Cascais through the Discalced Carmelites, under the patronage of D. António de Castro. Once, in 1834 pass to the property of the State, had a number of owners, until it was finally acquired by Visconde da Gandarinha, who built there a romantic park.
The Condes Castro Guimarães Palace Garden also was characterized by a touch of romanticism and, in 1944, after the land had been acquired Gandarinha, the two spaces were United and open to the public. After the revolution of 1974, was renamed Gandarinha Park, although even today be known as Marechal Carmona.
The Park has spacious lawns, shrubberies and herbaceous shrubs, a forest with tall trees and pathways with a touch of romanticism. The Park also includes a section of the Ribeira dos Owls, lakes, a picnic Park and a field for traditional games. There is the Municipal children and youth Library. Next to a coffee shop with a terrace and a beautiful Lake, where swimming ducks, is perfect for providing moments of rest and contemplation. The space also has a playground, which is divided into three areas, adapted to the age groups of children.
Every Saturday this park receives the Biological Market of Cascais, where you can find organic products, certificates. Fruits, vegetables, jams, candies, breads and cakes are some of the regional ' treats ' which can take home after a great ride by Marshal Carmona.
